A Vision for Sustainable Urban Mobility
In the heart of Stockholm, a revolutionary change is underway that promises to transform urban transportation. Clean Motion AB, a pioneer in sustainable vehicle technology, is spearheading a new project within the STOLT (Stockholm Local Transition) initiative. This ambitious venture focuses on electrifying last-mile deliveries through the innovative integration of battery swap technology in the solar-charged electric vehicle, EVIG.
Collaborating for a Greener Future
Clean Motion has partnered with prestigious organizations, including the City of Stockholm, Lund University, GoCimo, and Foodora, to bring this vision to life. By developing a shared battery infrastructure, the project aims to support a wide array of electric vehicles — from e-mopeds to small transport vehicles — accelerating the city’s journey to zero emissions by 2030. As stated in TradingView, the initiative aligns with Stockholm’s strategy to cultivate a sustainable urban environment, reducing congestion, air pollution, and noise while enhancing transport efficiency.
Breaking Barriers with Battery Swap Technology
The project’s centerpiece, EVIG, is set to revolutionize urban deliveries. With support for battery swap technology, EVIG enables continuous operation, eliminating charging stops and enhancing productivity. Over a year-long test phase, EVIG will navigate real urban landscapes, evaluating its performance in areas like Gamla Stan and Clean Air Zone Class 3.
Partnering with Foodora for Positive Impact
Daniel Gustafsson Raba, COO at Foodora, emphasizes the project’s impact, saying, “Collaborating with multiple electric vehicle types using a shared battery system provides logistical and environmental advantages.” Foodora’s commitment to sustainability aligns perfectly with Clean Motion’s objectives.
A Growing Infrastructure Beckons
The existing battery swap infrastructure managed by GoCimo is expanding to accommodate diverse electric vehicles. This development fortifies EVIG’s role as an adaptable, efficient solution for urban logistics. William Collings, Clean Motion’s CTO, highlights, “This project represents a crucial step towards continuous operation and increased profitability for our customers.”
Towards a Sustainable Transportation Standard
This initiative is more than a technological trial; it lays the groundwork for a new standard in urban mobility. The outcomes from this venture will serve as a blueprint for future endeavors across Sweden and potentially global arenas.
